In a world that constantly demands our attention, output, and energy, it’s remarkably easy to lose touch with our own internal rhythm. We get caught in the loop of daily routines, screen time, and chronic, low-grade stress. Eventually, our bodies give us the signals: fatigue, a buzzing nervous system, or a quiet, persistent yearning for a slower pace.
If you’ve been feeling the pull to hit pause, you aren’t alone.
This autumn, from October 14–18, 2026, we are gathering at the historic, deeply sacred grounds of the Whidbey Institute in Clinton, WA for the Inner Compass Retreat. Guided by Ava Larsen, this five-day, all-inclusive experience is more than a simple getaway, it is a trauma-informed, intentionally curated sanctuary designed to help you ground your nervous system and remember who you are when the world stops asking you to produce.
Here is an inside look at the core facilitated pillars of our time together and the intention behind each one:
🌿 The Pillars of the Inner Compass Experience
1. Guided Qigong & Somatic Movement
The Intention: Moving from the Head into the Body Traditional talk therapy is an incredible tool, but true regulation happens from the bottom up. Through daily, gentle Qigong practices and somatic movement, we will focus on clearing stagnant energy, releasing stored physical tension, and toning the vagus nerve. You don’t need any previous movement experience; these sessions are entirely about listening to your body’s unique wisdom, inviting fluid flow, and finding your physical center.
2. Low-Pressure Art Exploration
The Intention: Processing Beyond Words Sometimes, our deepest emotions and insights don't have words attached to them yet. Our creative art exploration blocks are entirely process-over-product. There is no right or wrong way to create here, and absolutely no artistic background is required. Using various mediums, this facilitated time allows you to play, externalize your inner landscape, and discover insights that your logical mind might be blocking.
3. Nature Immersion & Forest Bathing
The Intention: Regulating Through the Earth
The Pacific Northwest forest is one of the most powerful co-therapists we have. Held within the lush, tall pines of Whidbey Island, we will engage in intentional nature connection. Through guided forest bathing and quiet trail integration, we allow our physiological systems to synchronize with the natural world—lowering cortisol levels, slowing the heart rate, and inviting a sense of expansive perspective.
4. Fire Circles & Community Stargazing
The Intention: Safe, Intentional Connection Healing doesn’t happen in isolation; it happens in safe community. In the evenings, we will gather around the warmth of the fire circle. These circles are spaces for storytelling, reflection, or simply sitting in shared, comfortable silence under the stars. It is an opportunity to be seen and heard exactly as you are, without the armor of your daily roles.
5. Somatic Recovery: Wood-Fired Sauna & Deep Rest
The Intention: Physiological Integration A restorative retreat must care for the physical vessel. Throughout the weekend, you will have access to a traditional wood-fired sauna to help detoxify the body and invite deep muscle relaxation. Paired with peaceful forest lodging tucked quietly into the trees and nourishing, locally sourced organic meals prepared fresh daily, your body will have everything it needs to sink into a true state of recovery.
Will You Join Us on the Trail?
The Inner Compass Retreat is designed to be an intimate, psychologically safe container. Because we prioritize deep intentionality and space for everyone to process safely, spots are strictly limited.
